Phyllis Beard first gained recognition restoring the historically significant murals by Edwin Blashfield that adorn the walls & rotunda of the Mahoning Co. CTHS in Youngstown, OH, as well as the murals of the Mercer & Alliance Co. CTHS. She also did original murals in the Juvenile Justice & Probate CTs in Yo. Further restorations were done in many churches & public buildings in NE Ohio & PA.
Phyllis had three 1 man shows at The Butler Institute of American Art. The first included 40 drawings of inspirational people e.g., Mother Teresa, C. S. Lewis & Billy Graham. The 2nd included paintings of family & friends close to the artist's heart titled "Just Outside My Door". Finally, she rendered a series of large biblical paintings titled "The Atonement" depicting the life & death of Jesus. Phyllis' artwork can be found in various public buildings and private collections in NE Ohio and beyond including the permanent collection of The Butler.
